Oklahoma: Committed to Quality
The
Center for Early Childhood Professional Development reflects Oklahoma's
commitment to quality child care. Created using federal child
development block grant funds, the Center supports the individuals who
work in licensed child care settings in Oklahoma. The settings include
family child care homes, child care centers and Head Start programs.
Support
is given to achieve professional growth for teachers and directors as
they work toward success in the Reaching for the Stars tiered
reimbursement program. The tiered reimbursement program enables
programs that seek two-star or three-star status to receive a higher
reimbursement rate for children whose families receive child care
assistance through the State of Oklahoma Department of Human Services
(DHS).
CECPD operates on a grant from the
Department of Human Services Division of Child Care and operates under
the auspices of the University of Oklahoma's College of Continuing
Education. The Oklahoma Early Childhood Professional Development
Council serves as an advisory body to the Center and consists of
several work groups that provide guidance and assistance for training,
director's credential, school-age credential, compensation,
articulation career development, model observation sites and literacy.
Training
programs meet DHS requirements and specific training can be applied to
the Child Development Associate and certified Child Care Professional
national child care credentials.
