"Social Integration for Children on the Autism Spectrum"
Children's Behavioral Health with Phil Strain Ph.D.
Dr. Strain is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of
Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. He is a former special
education teacher and teacher supervisor. Dr. Strain is the author of
over 200 peer-reviewed papers and he serves on the editorial boards of
over a dozen professional journals. Dr. Strain has worked in the field
of Autism since 1974 and he serves as a science advisor to the Institute
of Medicine, the National Institute of Mental Health and the U.S.
Department of Education. He developed the LEAP Preschool model for
children with autism in 1980. Since that time LEAP models have been
adopted in 21 states, Italy, Brazil and Ireland. With over 30
peer-reviewed studies documenting the effectiveness of LEAP strategies
this is the most extensively validated programs in the entire field of
early intervention.
