THEME: UNDERSTANDING FATHERS
The theme for the 27th annual OCFR conference, Celebrating Families:
Understanding Fathers, was selected to develop a better understanding of
the role of fathers in family relationships. The conference will pay
particular attention to the different types of families and the roles of
fathers within the family along with implications for research, policy,
and practice. Additionally, the importance of involving fathers through
engagement, accessibility, and responsibility and the impact of this
upon families will be emphasized. The conference program is designed to
address a balance of academic, research, application, and policy
interests with a theme that is broad enough to capture a variety of
topics relating to families of all forms and family members at any age
or stage.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER - J. MICHAEL HALL
J. Michael Hall, executive director and founder of Strong Families -
Strong Fathers in Fort Worth, TX. Hall has worked as a special education
teacher in elementary and middle schools and is now considered a
“recovering” middle school principal. He is a contributing author of the
new book: Why Fathers Count: The Importance of Fathers and Their
Involvement with Children.
LUNCHEON PLENARY - JOHN CHACON
John Chacón, Consultant for Child Inc.’s Texas Supporting Healthy
Marriage Initiative. Chacón is the co-author of the 24/7 Dad™
Curriculum. John is a nationally recognized consultant and trainer for
the Nurturing Programs for eighteen years via Family Development
Resources Inc. He currently serves as an Athletic Director and Corporate
Work Study Coordinator for San Juan Diego Catholic High School in
Austin, TX.
REGISTRATION
Pre-Registration (before March 26) $45 for members, $65 non-member
On-Site (March 26 and after) $65 for members, $75 non-members
Student Rate Pre-Registration $30 for members, $45 non-member
Student Rate On-Site $45 for members, $60 nonmember
Groups of 6 or more Pre-Registered will receive a $5 per person
discount.
